ISO 8000

RED has tested the camera at ISO 8000 with the RED zoom at f22. The resulting image is pretty amazing. Check it out here.

Steven Soderbergh

has announced he will be shooting "The Argentine" and "Guerrilla" on the RED One cameras.

After shooting numerous tests Soderbergh had this to say about RED: "This is the camera I've been waiting for my whole career: jaw-dropping imagery recorded onboard a camera light enough to hold with one hand. I don't know how Jim and the RED team did it--and they won't tell me--but I know this: RED is going to change everything." Steven Soderbergh

The RED cameras are also being used on Timur Bekmambetov's 'Wanted' staring Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. 3 other major motion pictures will announce they are using RED shortly.

Peter Jackson

shot a 12 minute WWI short, complete with aerial dogfights, tanks, and exploding shells, for RED's demo at NAB 2007.

Jackson was interviewed in New-Zealand Magazine and had this to say:

I liked what they were doing – making a digital camera of the utmost quality, and making it affordable for indie filmmakers. It also looks like film – it has a very attractive quality to the image – none of the “digital” look I’ve seen with some other HD cameras. I gave them an open invitation that if they ever wanted to field test the camera in a “real world” situation. I’d be happy to help. I was also keen to put the film through a full professional post-production pipeline, just to ensure we could use the data all the way through to release.

Who is talking about the RED One camera?

The RED One camera has created quite a buzz with the indi cinema crowd since it was first announced in 2005. This is all the more impressive considering the camera is the first attempt at cinema equipment by a company better known for making high end sunglasses. The RED ONE camera is being developed by Jim Jannard (founder and CEO of Oakley), and the RED team, at RED headquarters in Southern California.
